Due to the growing demand for electric scooters, many cities in Australia are starting to allow the use of electric scooters and other micro-mobility devices in public. However, electric scooters in Perth, WA have yet to make their way into the city’s streets and public spaces. Only electric scooters that meet the law’s requirements are allowed to ride in public. Otherwise, riders can face penalties.

Electric scooter law in Perth
Electric scooter law in WA states that electric scooters are only allowed on public footpaths and roads if they use a maximum motor output of 200W and travel at a top speed of 10 km/h. Since most electric scooters in the market offer higher motor power and speed limits, most commercial e-scooters can’t be ridden in Perth and the rest of Western Australia.
However, electric scooters in Western Australia can be ridden on private property. The law does not regulate e-scooters on private property, but riders are advised to wear a helmet and other protective gear for their safety.

So far, there are no electric scooter trials in Perth. However, e-scooter sharing company Lime has been reported to be working on approval for an e-scooter trial. Moreover, given the current electric scooter law in WA, Lime also applied for an exemption to raise the speed limit from 10 km/h to 15 km/h.

Customers are required to register their warranty within one month of purchase. Complete your online warranty registration here.
Repairs within 30 days after the purchase are covered under Mearth’s warranty. Repair fees will apply after 30 days from purchase except for the frame, motor, and battery.
